Neither Rain, nor Wind, nor Tornado Threat...

kept the volunteers away from the CT-CHIP event for the Channel 3 Kids Camp Extravaganza at Rentchler Field in East Hartford on June 6th, 2010.  While RWB Donald Dean surveyed the field, the members and volunteers from Friendship Tuscan Lodge No. 145 set up the canopies, tables and chairs, and ran power to and tested the equipment.  But, all eyes remained on the weather as things got underway and the kids started through.

Then came the wind, darker clouds, and the tornado warning.  The skies were scanned, and it was decided that the event should be concluded as soon as possible.  The remaining kids were brought through and the stations were packed up as the last child passed by.  With out a moment to spare, the full crew packed up all the equipment and got to their vehicles.  That is when the storm hit with a vengeance. THUNDER, LIGHTNING, and HEAVY DOWNPOURS.

Although the threat of the storms ultimately kept the Extravaganza attendees away, we successfully processed thirty (30) children.  That's thirty families that have the added safety of the CT-CHIP purple pack.  Way to go team!!  Thank you to all the volunteers who braved the weather to make this event a success.
